According to L’Equipe, Crystal Palace have activated the £12.9m release clause in Newcastle United winger Andros Townsend’s contract.
Southampton, along with Manchester City and Liverpool, were all also linked with the winger, but he now looks set for a move to Crystal Palace.
Townsend is expected to leave Newcastle this summer after the club was relegated from the Premier League last season.
Newcastle finished 18th which meant they dropped down to the Championship with Norwich City and Aston Villa.

The 24-year-old winger only signed for Newcastle in January from Spurs but has a £12.9m release clause in his contract, which Palace have apparently activated.
In theory, other Premier League clubs could come in and also activate the release clause, but it does appear that Palace will push the deal over the line and bring him back down to London.
Despite relegation, Townsend did impress for Newcastle, scoring four times in 13 Premier League matches for the Geordies.
He still has ambitions of playing for England, so a move to the top flight will give him a better chance to impress the incumbent national team manager.
