Hull City looking to bring in Palace goalkeeper

Hull City are looking to buy Crystal Palace goalkeeper Alex McCarthy during the summer, according to Sky Sports.

The Tigers, who won the play-off final at the end of the season to earn promotion, are looking for a new goalkeeper. Their first choice star Allan McGregor will require surgery on a back injury sustained at the end of the season, and will be out for up to six months.

The arrival of Steve Mandanda to Crystal Palace means that Alan Pardew currently has four goalkeepers in his squad. McCarthy fell down the pecking order after a few mistakes at the beginning of last season.

The 26-year-old only joined the side from Queens Park Rangers last summer.

Talks were reportedly held with Fulham for the signature of McCarthy at the end of the winter transfer window, but the deal fell through.

Time will tell if this deal goes through but it seems to be one that makes sense for all parties.
