Alan Pardew has confirmed that Scott Dann has replaced Mile Jedinak as captain, a position the Australian has held since 2012/13.
The 29-year-old defender was an influential player in the Eagles’ campaign last season making 42 appearances in all competitions last season, including in the club’s extensive FA Cup run which saw them reach the final.
Dann captained the side on ten occasions last season with the outgoing captain Jedinak leading the side out 19 times in the previous campaign after making 35 appearances, with only 18 of those seeing him last the full 90 minutes.

The new captain scored on five occasions last season, with goals coming against Aston Villa, Liverpool, Everton, Bournemouth and Swansea. Dann was the highest scoring defender at Palace last season with Damien Delaney only finding the net on four occasions
Fans have taken to Twitter to express their views on the move by Pardew:
Twitter: Jedinak was a throwback to the valiant captains of old, a battler to the end. He took such pride wearing that armband. Gutted for him #cpfc (@JannettyHotTag)
Twitter: Jedinak loses #CPFC captaincy. Was there at his first home game for club. Guy behind me called him that “kangaroo bastard”. Came a long way. (@Paddy_Higgs)
Twitter: Scott Dann officially the new Palace captain, love that! The man is an absolute boss
