Fan favorite Michael Hughes celebrates his 45th birthday today and yes, there are quite a few images, videos and great memories from his playing days at Selhurst Park, which began in 2003.
In 2004/05 he was appointed as the captain a position that he held on an off for a number of years with Fitz Hall taking over the role for a short period of time. During his time at the club he made 125 appearances in all competitions, scoring on seven occasions and accumulating 10,209 minutes of game time.
Here a selection of tweets that have been circulating round the Twittersphere today:

Twitter: Michael Hughes is 45 today. He was the first #CPFC player to which I saw as a true leader. I’d say I looked up to him but he was only 5ft 5. (@mattjenner94)
