Crystal Palace’s latest summer signing Christian Benteke featured in his first Premier League game for Pardew’s side at Selhurst Park on Saturday, in the 1-1 draw with Bournemouth.

The 25-year-old who joined the Eagles for a club record fee from Liverpool has got the fans excited, with the hope that he can bring goals to a team which has been lacking a threat going forward in recent years.

Speaking after the game on Saturday to the club’s website, Benteke said: “I could have done better, but it was my first full game in a long time, so I was just getting back in shape. We took one point and that’s better than losing.”

“Today I had the chance to play 90 minutes and I felt a little bit tired at the end, but I’m now closer to my best, so I’m really happy.

“It was unbelievable the atmosphere today, especially in the second half, they pushed us on and we can be thankful to them, they helped us to score the crucial goal.”
