Former Crystal Palace striker Calvin Andrew who is now playing for League One side Rochdale has been banned for 12 matches by the Football Association for violent conduct.
The striker appealed the ban on the grounds that a standard three match ban wouldn’t be sufficient enough for the player based on the video evidence held by the Football Association.
A statement from the FA this afternoon following a hearing read as the following: “Calvin Andrew has been given a 12-match ban with immediate effect following an incident which was not seen by the match officials but caught on video.
“The Rochdale player was involved in an act of violent conduct in or around the 77th minute of the game against Oldham Athletic on 29 October 2016.
“Furthermore, it was alleged that the standard punishment of three matches that would otherwise apply would be clearly insufficient.

“The player admitted his behaviour constituted violent conduct but denied the clearly insufficient element of the charge.
“However, this was found proven following an Independent Regulatory Commission hearing today [Friday 4 November 2016].”
Calvin Andrew made 53 appearances for the Eagles between 2008 and 2012 after being signed by Neil Warnock for a fee believed to be around £80,000. He scored two goals during his time at the club and went on a number of loan spells including at Brighton and Millwall.
