Palace make loan offer for La Liga defender

Crystal Palace launched a last ditch attempt to sign Valencia centre-back Aymen Abdennour.

The deal, which would have been a loan to buy option, was rejected by the La Liga side who also received an offer from West Bromwich Albion for the 27-year-old.

France Football also report that French side Marseille are interested in the Tunisian international.

Abdennour moved to Valencia 18 months ago from Monaco, as a replacement for Nicolas Otamendi. The defender has most recently been involved in the Africa Cup of Nations despite only making nine appearances for Valencia this season.

Crystal Palace are clearly looking to make additions to the squad and are being linked with moves for numerous players but it looks like their attempt to bring in Abdennour will prove unsuccessful.
