Crystal Palace failed to complete the signing of Everton’s Aurona Kone on deadline day as Sam Allardyce looked to give the forward a short-term deal to prove himself after falling out of favour at Goodison Park.
The 33-year-old’s four-year contract at Everton is due to expire at the end of the season and with only six games to his name so far this season, Palace were looking to give the frontman a lifeline with a late move to South London.
Allardyce admitted after the 2-0 win at Bournemouth on Tuesday night that he was hopeful that Palace would be able to complete deals for Kone and Sakho, with the latter of the two deals, the only one that the Eagles completed before the deadline.

The Ivory Coast international has made six appearances for Everton this season, with both of his goals being scored against Yeovil Town in the second round of the League Cup.
His lack of appearances come after a full season of fixtures in the last campaign, making 31 appearances and scoring seven goals for the Toffee’s.
