Sam Allardyce and Crystal Palace have identified out-of-favour Southampton forward Jay Rodriguez as a possible summer transfer target.
As reported by the Mirror this evening, the Eagles are keen to bolster their attacking reinforcements by bringing the out-of-favour Saints forward to Selhurst Park.
Rodriguez hasn’t had the best of seasons for Saints so far, struggling yet again with injury problems and failing to really cement a place in Claude Puel’s starting line-up.
The one-time England international was due to go out on loan in the summer transfer window but a late equaliser against Sunderland changed Puel’s mind, seeing Rodriguez play at St Mary’s for the season.
Palace have endured a difficult season but look to have set themselves far enough away from the relegation zone to secure their Premier League status ahead of the coming season.
Sam Allardyce doesn’t have many striking options at his disposal aside from Christian Benteke and the experienced, potentially available option of Rodriguez would be a plausible signing this summer.
