Chelsea are closing in on the signing of Alvaro Morata and are reportedly eyeing Christian Benteke as a backup option for the Spaniard.
According to a report from the Independent today, the Blues are keen to land a target man this summer as an alternative choice for Antonio Conte to choose from up top.
It’s stated that Crystal Palace’s Benteke is one name under consideration, while Swansea’s Fernando Llorente is also being pondered by Blues boss Conte, who worked with the Spaniard at Juventus.
Frank de Boer has reiterated his desire to keep hold of the Eagles’ key men this summer, and Benteke is sure to be a fundamental part of his plans at Selhurst Park.
The Belgium international is sure to be keen on playing consistent, first-team football in the top flight, and this is something that may not be possible at Chelsea.
Benteke, naturally, is claimed to be interested in the move, but Palace are unlikely to sell this summer.
