Palace eyeing January swoop for Walcott

Goal-shy Crystal Palace have been linked with a January move for Arsenal outcast Theo Walcott.

The Gambling Times have suggested that Walcott has been told he can leave the Emirates in the New Year, unless he proves his worth and forces himself back into first-team contention.

The English winger has found himself falling down the pecking order at the Emirates, with the likes of Welbeck, Sanchez and Lacazette all in front. Since his arrival at the club in 2006, Walcott has scored 65 times in 264 appearances for the Gunners.

The out-of-favour winger may need a change of scene to revive his career, with a reported move to former club Southampton also on the cards.

Crystal Palace, who are yet to score a goal this season, are desperately looking to bolster their attacking options, with Christian Benteke and Wilfried Zaha both sidelined through injury.

The Eagles were linked with former West Ham forward Carlton Cole, but an offer is yet to materialise. Former Southampton talisman Rickie Lambert was also on Roy Hodgson’s radar, however he has since retired from football.

But Palace will know that finding their shooting boots is a necessity if they are to remain in the top-flight come next May.
