Pape Souare had his Crystal Palace shirt thrown back at him by a frustrated fan after a heavy League Cup defeat to Bristol City.
Souare threw his shirt into the away end after the game had finished to show appreciation for the support he was given as he recovered from an injury sustained in a car crash in September 2016.
However, what came afterwards was a shock as the shirt was thrown back onto the pitch.
Emotions were running high as Palace were knocked out of the Carabao Cup and Souare only came on as a substitute late on in the game playing only 26 mins. This exchange with the supporter was met with angry opinions from Crystal Palace fans showing sympathy for Pape Souare.
Andros Townsend’s father Troy agreed with the Palace fans on Twitter tweeting “Seriously, after everything he’s been through to come back and play for the club”.

The Crystal Palace left back later tweeted ” Disappointing night, emotions were high. I understand the frustration. All love.”
Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson also joined in on the sympathy for Pape Souare in a post match interview saying “I am sorry for Pape because he has had to work very hard to get back from a long-term injury and I am certain him throwing his shirt into the crowd was a positive gesture on his part.”
Palace fans were hoping to see a team flying up the table however, they are now seeing a team rock-bottom in the Premier League losing to Championship opposition and you would hope that the incident on Tuesday night isn’t taken personally by Souare.
