Crystal Palace look to have moved ahead of London rivals West Ham United in the race to sign forward Khouma Babacar from Italian side Fiorentina this month, as reported by the Daily Mail.
With striker Christian Benteke not really firing so far this season and there being a heavy amount of reliance on Wilfred Zaha, Eagles boss Roy Hodgson has seen the need to improve in attacking areas if they are going to be able to get out of further danger this season.
The player has been a long-term target for the club and it looks as though they will miss out on Hammers forward Diafra Sakho, as they look to improve their options.

West Ham wanted to secure a deal for Babacar on loan with the potential of completing the signing in the summer but it now appears that Palace will now beat them to the signing.
Babacar has scored six goals in Serie A this season in 19 matches and could well help Palace’s options up top.
Palace are prepared to meet all of the terms that Fiorentina are demanding, according to the report, and a move is now imminent which both parties are happy with.
