Van Aanholt “disappointed” with nature of Palace defeat

Crystal Palace defender Patrick van Aanholt says his side must move on quickly from their disappointing loss to Tottenham and focus on their next match.

The Eagles had looked to have earned a well deserved point at Selhurst Park before a late corner found Harry Kane at the far post and the England striker was well positioned to head home.

Before the goal, the injury-hit Palace team had looked far from relegation-threatened, having largely kept their opponents at bay with success.

And former Sunderland full-back Van Aanholt admitted that given the circumstances of the goal, the defeat was a tough one to take. In his post-match interview, he said;

We were right in it until the end and then lost in the 88th minute, concede a corner and they score at the back post.

We are very disappointed but we have to move on now.

We were very good defensively [against Tottenham] and didn’t create much up front, but we were solid at the back and defended like a team, but in the end we still lost.

matchday.
