Hodgson reveals Sakho is set to resume light training

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson has confirmed that Mamadou Sakho is set to return to light training after a layoff through injury.

As the Premier League enters its final lengths, it is a crucial time for Palace who are looking to avoid the drop this season. Sakho has missed a number of important games for the Eagles this season, although Hodgson has revealed that the Frenchman is ready to start training again.

Talking ahead of the club’s clash with Chelsea this weekend, Hodgson said;

Mamadou Sakho will join in with the team tomorrow [Friday], they tell me, on that light training session. He’s not been with us for weeks now, it seems like months.

We’ll see how he feels. It would be unrealistic for him to start the game. But if he’s physically fit medically and mechanically, there’s no reason he couldn’t be involved in the game.

Palace currently find themselves in the bottom three, however they remain just three points off 13th place in the Premier League table.
