Hodgson delivers update on Zaha’s condition

Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson delivered an update on the condition of Wilfried Zaha after the winger was taken off in the team’s win at Huddersfield this afternoon.

The Eagles came away with a vital three points as they climbed out of the relegation zone for the time being. A first-half goal from James Tomkins and a second-half penalty from Luka Milivojevic handed the travelling Palace faithful a big win to reflect on.

However, concerns were raised as Zaha hobbled off with minutes to spare at the John Smith’s Stadium.

The Ivory Coast international has only just made his return from injury and was given his first start since February against the Terriers this afternoon. Thererefore, it was a worry for Hodgson and his side that Zaha had aggravated a previous knock.

This does not seem to be the case, however. As quoted by the Croydon Advertiser, Hodgson delivered a reassuring update on Zaha’s condition as Palace head into the international break in 16th place.

I don’t know it was a definite injury. He took quite a few kicks towards the end of the game. Of course, Wilf carries the ball and on a couple of those occasions, he was stopped by a foul and he took a couple of little knocks.

Add to that the fact it was his first full game in seven weeks and he worked very hard, it is a long time out. I am hoping – and I haven’t been given any indication – that he hasn’t picked up any serious injury, and I am hoping he will recover.
