Palace youngster joins first-team for Bournemouth game after Benteke injury

Young striker James Daly could be part of Crystal Palace’s match-day squad to face Bournemouth tomorrow after travelling with the first-team, according to a Croydon Advertiser exclusive.

The 18-year old has made the journey to the South Coast and could be named in the match-day squad at the Vitality Stadium, with Roy Hodgson’s squad severely limited up front.

Christian Benteke has now confirmed he will miss the game due to a groin injury, and with Connor Wickham and Alexander Sørloth both unavailable, Daly comes into the fold.

Daly was notably absent from the Crystal Palace Under-23s game against Huddersfield Town on Friday afternoon, where the young Eagles ran out as 2-1 victors.

Daly was instead pictured training with the first-team, and in his absence, 16-year old Rob Street led the line for the Under-23s, netting the opening goal for Richard Shaw’s side.

Having recently impressed with the Under-23s, most notably with a hat-trick against Queens Park Rangers in February, Daly will be hoping he can emulate Street for the first-team tomorrow – if he gets the nod.

matchday.
