Palace boosted by return of striking duo
Crystal Palace striking pair Christian Benteke and Alexander Sorloth have both returned from injury and are in contention to face Brighton this weekend, according to the Daily Mail.
Palace claimed a potentially important point last weekend as they drew 2-2 away at Bournemouth despite not naming a recognised striker in the team, with Wilfried Zaha playing in the false nine position.
Roy Hodgson has admitted that he could persist with this approach despite having both Benteke and Sorloth available for selection.
Palace are still struggling at the bottom of the table, with the Eagles sitting just three points ahead of Southampton, who are in 18th place. Saints also have a game in hand, meaning Palace need everyone back to full fitness as soon as possible to continue their decent form.
Hodgson is relieved that he has more options in his squad now that the striking duo are close to a return. When speaking in his pre-match press conference, the experienced manager had this to say:
Alexander Sorloth trained for the first time and got through the session well. Christian has made enormous progress. (Benteke) joined in the initial part of the session before going back to the sports scientist people to check, but if he can train normally (on Friday) then he will be available.
