Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson claims forward Christian Benteke will be on fire for Palace next season, as the London club are on course to stay in the Premier League.
The Belgian striker has struggled for form this season, scoring three goals in 29 league appearance, including one in last weekend’s 5-0 win over Leicester.
According to Reuters, manager Hodgson says that his struggles this season are not a ‘true reflection of his talent’ and that he will prove it next season.
He said:
It has not been a great season and he’ll tell you that. But I think he is a lot better than what we have seen this season,
I would expect him to go out and prove next season that this season was not a true reflection of him.
Hodgson’s men were bottom of the league when he took over from Frank De Boer in September.
He has now guided the Eagles to 11th place with 38 points from 36 matches and he says he is keen on improving Palace and making a better start to a season.
Unless you’re one of the top six sides in the league it tends to be a two manager job to keep a team up. I’ll be talking to the directors… so that we can prepare to push on next season.
