Middlesbrough are reportedly looking at a deal for Crystal Palace midfielder Jason Puncheon before the EFL loan window shuts.
Teeside Live are reporting that Boro are looking to strengthen their side before the end of the loan window and that Puncheon is one of the names being looked at.
Despite playing in Palace’s Carabao Cup win on Tuesday, Puncheon is surplus to requirements at Selhurst Park. Roy Hodgson is reportedly therefore ready to let the midfielder go out on loan.
Hodgson said:
He wants to play more and I have made it clear to him that I cannot guarantee that.
In the middle of the park is where we are, at the moment, very competitive. But you saw that he is still a very good player, and I thought he was important to us in our victory.
Middlesbrough boss Tony Pulis has history with Puncheon, with the midfielder playing under the former West Brom and Stoke boss when he was Palace manager for a short stint in 2013/14.
Puncheon has made over 130 league appearances for the Eagles, but the 32-year-old has fallen down the pecking order as of late.
