Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson has admitted he would welcome Wayne Rooney to Selhurst Park, if the former England international decides to return to the Premier League, football.london report.
England’s all time top goal scorer has only spent time with boyhood club Everton and Manchester United in the Premier League, before leaving the Toffees for DC United over the summer.
The 32-year-old has been in inspired form for DC since his arrival in the MLS, scoring 10 times in his 18 appearances so far, which has helped them into the play-off places.
Talking ahead of the fixture with Rooney’s former club Everton, Hodgson believes the natural goal scorer may have left England too soon and admitted he would bring the forward to Selhurst Park, if given the opportunity.
I am not so certain he would have considered that as an option, but you never know.
I have a great deal of respect for Wayne and I think he does for me.
We respect each other, but he has thought long and hard about his decision, and without a shadow of doubt he would have talked it over with his family, because he is very much a family man, and they decided at this stage of their lives this is what we need.
