Crystal Palace Under-23s coach Richard Shaw says that he is continuously impressed by young midfielder Kian Flanagan, who has been in fine form for the club’s development squad.
The 19-year old scored his sixth goal of the season this week, netting in Palace U23s 4-1 win against Colchester United.
And Shaw says he is pleased to see the Republic of Ireland youth international add more of a goal threat to his game. Talking to Palace TV, as quoted by Football.London, Shaw said:
I have been saying for a while now, since Kian came back into the building in July, he has really impressed me.
His attitude, his application, and I think he has scored more goals now than he did last season.
We are trying to encourage him to get in behind the back four and run in behind.
In the past, he didn’t really want to run in behind, because he didn’t want to run back, but now he is starting to see the value of it, and he is starting to score some goals.
And I am really pleased for Kian, because he works hard at his game every single day.
