Palace target Gabriel Barbosa open to Premier League move

Crystal Palace target Gabriel Barbosa, who was once described as ‘the next Neymar’, has admitted he is open to a move to the Premier League, after an impressive loan spell with Santos, according to the Daily Mail.

The 22-year-old made the switch from Santos to Inter Milan two years ago for a fee worth £26 million, however, the forward failed to impress in Italy and has been enjoying a loan spell in Brazil with his former side.

The youngster has topped the Brazilian goal charts with Santos this season, finding the back of the net on 22 occasions from 38 appearances, catching the eye of Crystal Palace officials as a result.

Barbosa, who has the nickname of ‘Gabigol’, is thought to be out of favour at the San Siro, with Inter reportedly willing to accept an offer in the region of £18 million in January for the striker’s services.

And talking to Sportsmail, Barbosa, who is also being tracked by Everton and West Ham, admitted he loves watching the Premier League and has spoken to fellow Brazilians over the possibility of making the switch to England.

Hopefully everything will be good for everyone if we reach an agreement. There are many things involved, mainly Inter Milan as they hold my rights. It hasn’t been decided yet, but it is very unlikely I will remain in Brazil.

The Premier League always had great strikers and it is a joy to watch on TV. It is very competitive, fast-paced and dynamic, with loads of title contenders. There is quality everywhere, that’s why everybody loves it and I am no different. It attracts me a lot.

I follow the Brazilians, sometimes we talk and all of them love playing in the Premier League.
