In this week’s e-Crystal Palace Podcast’s, I review the games against Chelsea and Wolverhampton Wanderers by giving you my match report, player ratings as well as my Man of the Match.
The Eagles ended 2018 with defeat at the hands of Chelsea. In a tight affair, which saw Palace sit back and defend deep, N’Golo Kante scored the only goal of the game in the 50th minute. The Blues enjoyed the majority of the possession and chances, and despite a late flurry of chances from Palace, the game ended in a 1-0 defeat.
Should Connor Wickham and Max Meyer have come on earlier? Why were we so negative?

Palace started 2019 in the best way possible with a 2-0 away win at Molineux. It was two late goals which secured the win for Roy Hodgson’s men – after a thoroughly professional performance from the Eagle’s – with Jordan Ayew netting his first goal for the club with a composed finish, and Luka Milivojevic scoring a penalty with the last kick of the game.
Is this the best back-four Palace have ever had? Could this be a turning point for Jordan Ayew? Now we’ve seen how well the 4-3-3 works, will Roy Hodgson continue with it? How good was it to see Wilfried Zaha back to his best on the left?
