Sorloth set to leave Palace on loan

Crystal Palace striker Alexander Sorloth is set to join AA Gent on loan, according to journalist Kristof Terreur.

The Norwegian is said to be linking up with the Belgian side in Spain, where they are staging their winter training camp, to undergo a medical.

Sorloth joined Crystal Palace from FC Midtjylland for £9m last January but has failed to have the desired impact at Selhurst Park.

After registering just one goal in 20 appearances in South London and being given limited game time, Sorloth is seeking more first-team opportunities with Gent potential suitors.

Their coach, Jess Thorup, is hopeful that a deal can be completed in the near future, saying:

He has power, pace and can hopefully score some goals. That’s what we need.

The 23-year-old’s departure could free up space in the squad to bring in more attacking reinforcements, with Palace lacking goals this season.

The Eagles will be boosted by the return of Christian Benteke, and are also said to be keen on Everton’s Oumar Niasse.
