Palace director to watch young Sunderland striker

Crystal Palace director Dougie Freedman will go and watch young Sunderland striker Josh Maja, as the Eagles consider launching a bid for the 20-year-old.

Maja is said to have stalled talks of a new deal at the Stadium of Light, amongst apparent interest from Premier League clubs.

Crystal Palace are in desperate need of a goalscorer, with their side lacking firepower in the final third. They may turn to youngster Maja, who could be lured away from the North East.

According to Guardian journalist Ed Aarons, Freedman is set to watch the Englishman in action and then decide whether he could fill the void in the Palace team.

Maja has been in good form for Sunderland so far this season, scoring 14 times in 28 appearances for the Black Cats. This impressive spell has seen him attract interest from several clubs, including top-flight sides, who could start vying for his signature.
