Goals from Jeffrey Schlupp and Max Meyer against Doncaster Rovers booked Crystal Palace their place in the FA Cup quarter-finals on Sunday.
The Eagles headed into the clash at the Keepmoat Stadium knowing that a win would secure them their passage through to the final eight of the competition after seeing off Grimsby Town and Tottenham Hotspur in the previous rounds.
Roy Hodgson rotated his team, but they were comfortable throughout and took the lead after eight minutes as Schlupp’s deflected effort finished off a slick counter-attack from the visitors.
On the stroke of half-time, Palace doubled their lead courtesy of Meyer. Andros Townsend put Luka Milivojevic’s inch-perfect pass across to the German, who quickly dispatched.
Palace will be content with what was a routine victory against Doncaster away from home.
Here are our player ratings.
Wayne Hennessey - 6
Grew in confidence as the game progressed after a nervy opening. Solid enough throughout.
Joel Ward - 6
Ward didn’t do a great deal wrong aside from a loose backpass in the first half. However, he failed to truly stand out.
Martin Kelly - 7
The ever-dependable Kelly was solid. He was composed and didn’t give anything away to the Doncaster front-line.
Scott Dann - 7
Dann, too, was comfortable. He was assured at the back and led by example.
Patrick van Aanholt - 6
Got forward well but did little of note. He worked hard and was by no means poor.
Luka Milivojevic - 8
Milivojevic’s passing was outstanding. He played a part in both goals and set the tone of the match.
Max Meyer - 8
Meyer found good positions and grew as the game went on. His efforts were rewarded with a goal, and he looked confident.
Jeffrey Schlupp - 8
Schlupp impressed in midfield. His goal was somewhat fortuitous, but he worked tirelessly to overrun Doncaster’s midfield.
Andros Townsend - 8
Townsend is another who developed as the game progressed. He assisted Meyer’s goal and was industrious throughout.
Michy Batshuayi - 5
Batshuayi looks rather off the pace. His touch doesn’t seem to be there at the moment, but this could improve with more regular game-time.
Jordan Ayew - 5
He worked hard but also failed to convince. His decision-making was lacking.
