Palace in Portuguese scouting mission

A player in Portugal’s Primeira Liga has caught the eye of Crystal Palace chiefs, with the news that scouts of the South London club have been spotted in the country.

A report from Portuguese outlet A Bola (translated by Sport Witness) confirms that Palace representatives were in attendance for Rio Ave’s clash with Santa Clara on Friday evening.

The article does not reveal which player the scouts were there to monitor, but defender Fabio Cardoso’s man of the match performance for Rio Ave may have caught the eye of those analysts present.

Rio Ave are understood to be a club close to super-agent Jorge Mendes, so anything could be in the pipeline!

Palace weren’t the only Premier League club to have scouts present for the fixture however, with Fulham also understood to have sent emissaries along to witness Rio Ave’s 2-1 victory.

It’s never too early to start building that Championship squad…

matchday.
