Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson says that he is not concerned by Aaron Wan-Bissaka missing out on a place in the England squad.
Wan-Bissaka has been highly praised for his performances this season, but was not named in Gareth Southgate’s squad for the upcoming European Championship qualifiers this month.
The young right-back was, instead, named in the under-21 squad, with Kieran Trippier, Kyle Walker and Trent Alexander-Arnold making the senior squad in his position.
Speaking to The Mirror, former England boss Hodgson said this:
My eyebrows weren’t raised – I don’t see why they should be.
He is picked for the England U21s which in itself is a very, very big honour.
It is good to know that reading Gareth’s comments that he is obviously aware of Aaron Wan-Bissaka and what he can do.
I don’t think Aaron, myself or anyone at the club should start to jumping onto media speculation regarding the player. It is up to him to keep playing well.
Wan-Bissaka has been a regular at right-back for Palace this season, after initially breaking into the side towards the end of the previous campaign.
He is also eligible to represent DR Congo at international level, through his family.
