Palace will get second chance to sign Okazaki

Crystal Palace were interested in signing Leicester City’s Shinji Okazaki in the January transfer window, but ultimately came up short in their pursuit of the Japanese international.

The 32-year-old has fallen down the depth chart in the Midlands this season, and has started just one Premier League game for his side. The arrival of Brendan Rodgers at the club seems to have put the final nail in the coffin of his Foxes career, rather than resurrect it.

Arriving at the King Power Stadium in 2015 from Mainz, the forward became known as a timely goalscorer, and was a big part of the famous 2015/16 Premier League title win.

With his contract set to expire at the end of the current campaign, Rodgers has reportedly given assent to the striker’s departure.

Reports are suggesting Roy Hodgson’s Crystal Palace may now decide to revive their interest in Okazaki, who has made over a hundred appearances for his national side in what has been an outstanding career.
