Palace fans may have to wait yet another season for any work on Selhurst Park’s main stand to take place.
This is after agreements have not yet been put in place for transport in and around the ground as a result of the potential extra 8,000 fans the area would have to accompany for.
The capacity currently stands at 26,000 and after developments in the region of up to £100 million, the ground would then hold up to 34,000, a statement of intent from the London club.
Negotiations are on-going, but Croyden Council and the Crystal Palace supporters trust explain them to be very complex meaning the summer of the 2020/21 season now looks to be the earliest date plans will be able to go ahead, reports the Evening Standard.
The Trust welcomed the fact that other things were taking place and that the ‘new’ stand was not the sole development under consideration.
Other improvements such as the Holmesdale roof are still scheduled to take place, as well as training ground facilities. Palace fans, however, may have to wait just a little bit longer for the construction of their prize asset to take place.
