Palace target Maupay in talks with Sevilla

Crystal Palace have suffered a setback in their pursuit of Brentford striker Neal Maupay as the Frenchman’s agent has flown to Spain to discuss terms with Sevilla over a move this summer.

Palace have been linked with a move for the striker in recent weeks as Roy Hodgson looks to strengthen his attacking options, while Aston Villa and Norwich City have also shown interest in the Frenchman.

However the Premier League trio may have to act quickly in their attempts to sign the striker, as Get French Football News suggest via L’Equipe that the 22-year-old’s agent has flown to Spain to negotiate a deal with Sevilla.

Maupay has been a figure of consistency for Brentford since signing for the Bees in 2017 from Saint-Etienne, and the Frenchman netted 28 times in 49 appearances in all competitions last season.

The 22-year-old is said to be valued at a fee in the region of €10million, and the striker currently has two years remaining on his deal at Griffin Park.
