Crystal Palace have been tipped as heavy favourites to re-sign Liverpool defender Nathaniel Clyne after completing the sale of Aaron Wan-Bissaka to Manchester United this weekend.
The 20-year-old’s £50million fee is the highest Palace have ever received for a player and now the club will look to spend some of their earnings on a replacement right-back.
Roy Hodgson will have made that a priority going into the 2019-20 season and Sky Bet have the Eagles as 4/5 frontrunners for Clyne, a stretch ahead of West Ham United at 18/1 and Bournemouth at 20/1.
Clyne, now 28, shot through the youth ranks at Selhurst Park and made 137 first-team appearances between 2008 and 2012 before moving to Southampton.
He later moved to Liverpool for £12.5million, a fee the Anfield club are now looking to recoup in a sale.
Clyne would be a solid signing in the eyes of many and has plenty of Premier League experience to his name, so it’d be good to see it get over the line.
