Sassuolo striker Khouma Babacar has emerged as a target for Crystal Palace, according to claims from Italy.
The Eagles were reportedly on the verge of completing a £12 million deal for the forward last summer, but no transfer materialised as the 26-year-old remained in Serie A.
However, they are again being linked with a pursuit of Babacar this year, with Corriere dello Sport, as cited in a report from Calciomercato, suggesting that Palace are among the potential suitors for the Senegalese attacker.
The former Fiorentina star is believed to be ready to call time on his tenure with Sassuolo, and a summer move may be on the cards, with Palace and La Liga club Leganes noted as potential suitors.
Babacar was reasonably productive in Serie A last season. He found the back of the net on seven occasions from 29 league appearances, while also contributing with two assists.
Roy Hodgson may be keen to add to his current pool of striking options this summer to provide support and competition for Christian Benteke.
Other strikers who Palace could consider signing this summer
Maupay was superb last season for Brentford. The Frenchman would add a different style of striker to Palace’s squad.
Caputo, despite Empoli’s relegation from Serie A, had an impressive campaign. The experienced striker could be a bargain buy.
Southampton want to sell Charlie Austin this summer. While he may not be at the peak of his powers, he has proven that he can score goals in the Premier League, and would relish the chance to prove his doubters wrong.
Petagna was lethal for Spal last season. The towering Italian forward has all the makings of a very good player, and he is one to keep an eye on.
Iglesias was impressive throughout the season for Espanyol, with his displays up top helping the side secure their place in the Europa League. He would be a smart signing.
