Palace to face Colchester in Carabao Cup second round – is it a good draw?

Crystal Palace have been drawn to face Colchester United at Selhurst Park in the second round of the 2019-20 Carabao Cup.

The Eagles enter this round of the competition along with 10 other Premier League teams not involved in Europe, and will now aim to beat the Us in their to kick-off the cup campaign in style.

After such a promising start to the competition last season, beating Swansea City and West Bromwich Albion away from home without conceding a goal, Palace were knocked out with a 1-0 fourth-round defeat at Middlesbrough.

Hodgson’s side will be looking for a good run this time around though, and should be very pleased with the outcome of the draw.

After three straight away games in last year’s competition, to be drawn at home for starters must be refreshing.

The Eagles won the clubs’ last meeting in 2008, and will be confident in history repeating itself later this month if they want to have a real go this term.

matchday.
