Palace had late deal for Marcos Rojo fall through – Would this have been a good deal?

Crystal Palace had a late move for Manchester United’s Marcos Rojo collapse, according to The Athletic.

Rojo, who was linked with several sides this summer, could have been moving on loan to Crystal Palace before the deal collapsed late on in the window.

The Eagles were looking for defensive reinforcements and eventually brought in Gary Cahill to play in the centre of defence.

However, one area of the pitch they failed to strengthen was full-back, something that Rojo would have solved.

Jairo Riedewald seems to be the backup option if Patrick van Aanholt is unfit, with the Dutchman playing against Colchester in the Carabao cup earlier this month.

Rojo has never really made an impact since moving to Manchester United, so it’s easy to see why they would let him go.

However, it would be hard to see him getting into the Palace first team with Patrick van Aanholt occupying the left-back position at the minute.

Palace will almost certainly be looking for reinforcements in January however, and full-back is a position that has got to be strengthened

matchday.
