Key Battles: Spurs vs Crystal Palace

Fresh from the international break, Crystal Palace will be hoping to extend their run of good form against Mauricio Pochettino’s Spurs side.

Roy Hodgson’s men have made a strong start to the new season, with wins over Aston Villa and Manchester Utd propelling them up to the dizzying heights of fourth in the table.

Spurs, on the other hand, have had a relatively mild start to the new season by their standards, with a disappointing home loss to Newcastle, and a draw away at rivals Arsenal, meaning they’ll need to bounce back against a dogged Palace side.

The Eagles will be boosted by returning defenders Mamadou Sakho and James Tomkins, with the only absentee likely to be Martin Kelly, who sustained an injury against Aston Villa.

Many of the Spurs squad featured for England in the international break, most notably Harry Kane, therefore Palace fans will be hoping for some tired Spurs legs out there as the game grows on.

The inform man for Palace is Ghanaian forward Jordan Ayew, who has just picked up his Player of the Month award for August. With two goals in his last two starts, the Tottenham defenders will have to be on their toes to prevent Ayew from extending his hot streak in front of goal.

With that in mind, here are the key battles we think Palace need to win, if they are to cause another upset:
