Palace fans react as Christian Benteke nets on Belgium duty

Crystal Palace forward Christian Benteke has finally scored a goal, but it wasn’t for the Eagles.

Benteke, called up for the Belgium squad despite rarely appearing for Palace, scored as his national side thrashed international football minnows San Marino 9-0.

Palace fans were quick to mock the striker, with many feeling that the player had finally found his level against one off the worst footballing nations.

Some Palace fans however were more shocked that Benteke continues to get into the Belgian side.

It’s shocking that Belgium are still calling up Benteke, rather than the fact he’s scored against San Marino.

It would be more surprising to read that he hadn’t scored against them, rather than seeing him score here.

Palace fans will be hoping he can actually score for his club side sooner rather than later.

matchday.
