Crystal Palace target Ferguson offered a new deal – is the Eagles’ pursuit over?

Crystal Palace’s pursuit of a replacement for Aaron Wan-Bissaka could take a hit, with West Brom reportedly set to offer a new contract to defender Nathan Ferguson.

The Eagles have reportedly been looking at a move for the Albion defender as they look to replace Wan-Bissaka after his move to Manchester United.

Ferguson has been high on their list, but a report from the Birmingham Mail suggests Albion may be trying to tie the defender down to a new deal.

West Brom have no interest in selling the defender in January, with Albion pushing for promotion back to the Premier League.

This is despite Palace’s reported interest in a potential move for the defender.

This is obviously a blow for Palace’s chances of replacing Aaron Wan-Bissaka, with a new right-back seemingly on the priority list for Roy Hodgson in January.

He is yet to sign the new contract, but it still looks like a move to Palace is now off the table in January.

The Eagles will now have to look elsewhere if they want to add some quality at full-back.

matchday.
