Many Crystal Palace fans believe that defender Gary Cahill should be the club’s captain.
The Englishman put in a solid display in defence to help the Eagles to a clean sheet against Newcastle United on Saturday at Selhurst Park.
Cahill almost got his name on the scoresheet but was superbly denied by goalkeeper Martin Dubravka in the first half.
Luka Milivojevic is the club captain at the moment but after Cahill’s display of determination and passion, many fans want to see him with the armband on.
With the Serbian midfielder missing the game against the Magpies, Cahill did skipper the side and many were pleased with how he led the team.
The former Chelsea man made four clearances in the match, more than any other Palace player (WhoScored).
Cahill was criticised by many fans for his poor display against Everton in their last league encounter but he stepped up against the Magpies.
These Palace fans took to Twitter to hail Cahill, with some calling for him to be captain again.
