Crystal Palace show interest in Jeremie Boga

As speculation over the future of talismanic forward Wilfried Zaha continues to grow, Crystal Palace appear to have identified an ex-Chelsea player to potentially replace him in the event that he leaves the club.

Jeremie Boga, who is currently playing for Sassuolo in Serie A, has garnered interest from suitors across Europe after an impressive season for the Neroverdi saw the Ivorian score 11 goals and provide a further four assists. Boga was a standout contributor as Sassuolo defied expectations to achieve a commendable 8th-place finish in Serie A’s 2019/20 season.

Italian giants Napoli and French side Rennes have already submitted bids, with fellow Italian rivals Atalanta joined by Bayer Leverkusen in expressing further interest.

According to Sky Sports, Napoli have already offered £27m for Boga, while Boga’s former club Rennes tabled a £20m offer earlier this week. However, Sassuolo are holding out as they look to command a fee in the region of £30m.

The Italian outfit signed Boga from Chelsea for less than £4m, and would be in line to make a substantial profit from the player’s sale if their valuation is met.

Crystal Palace’s star player Zaha is reportedly ‘determined’ to leave Selhurst Park during the current transfer window with Paris Saint-Germain, Borussia Dortmund and Monaco having all exhibited an interest in the 27-year-old.

Consequentially, Palace would likely have to invest a significant portion of the proceeds from a sale of Zaha if they are to fend off hefty continental competition for the attacking ace.
