Michy Batshuayi is set for a loan return to Crystal Palace for the 2020/21 season, according to the Daily Mail.

The report states that the Belgian striker will first sign a contract extension with parent club Chelsea before returning to Selhurst Park on a season-long loan deal.

Batshuayi’s current deal with Chelsea expires next summer and the Blues are reticent to allow him to leave on a free when his contract is up.

Palace are believed to be confident of re-signing Batshuayi, who was linked with loan moves to the likes of West Brom, Newcastle, Leeds, and a handful of Bundesliga sides too.

The 26-year-old has been at Stamford Bridge since arriving in 2016 from Marseille for £33 million, however, the striker has struggled to nail down a place during the reigns of numerous managers.

With 25 goals in 75 appearances for The Blues, Batshuayi has often proven his worth when called upon, although he has spent the majority of his time out on loan, including a spell with Borussia Dortmund.

However, it is his spell with the Eagles in 2018/19 which will excite Palace fans, and Roy Hodgson ahead of his impending return.

The Belgian international managed six goals in 13 appearances in all competitions whilst in SE25 and endeared himself to the fans.

An out and out goalscorer is certainly a top priority for Hodgson as he looks to supplement the striking efforts of Christian Benteke and last season’s top scorer Jordan Ayew.

Should this deal be rubber-stamped, it is one that should lead to great optimism ahead of the new season.
