- Palace tracking Argentine starlet
- Key man for Boca Juniors
- Palace need midfield depth
Crystal Palace have reportedly entered the race to sign young Boca Juniors talent Milton Delgado ahead of what is expected to be a tightly contested transfer saga this Summer. Leeds United and Everton are the other Premier League clubs interested.
Whilst the Argentine club are not desperate to move him on, SportsBoom reports that they would consider appropriate bids should they arrive in the Summer. Delgado is viewed as a smart market option, and there is a vast array of clubs across the world monitoring the 20-year-old, including sides from MLS, Italy and Spain.
The financial demand on Argentine clubs at the moment would lead Boca to consider an earlier sale than anticipated, but they are firm in their stance that no sale will be made for anything less than their valuation.
Who is Milton Delgado?
A 20-year-old Argentinian midfielder, Delgado has been a key part of the Boca Juniors side since he was just eighteen. He has been described as the ‘dynamo’ in the heart of the Boca team, a buzzy, lively player who thrives both in and out of possession.
Graduating from the Boca academy in 2024, his strong physique and superb box-to-box ability has led to a huge amount of interest from across the globe.
Boca’s model is to ‘polish and sell’, and although the club’s higher-ups believe that Delgado is a key fixture of the squad’s future, they are clear in the mindset that a strong offer will trigger a sale.
Palace Need Depth in Midfield
Palace are reportedly one of those sides, and Delgado would be a handy addition to a squad which will be lacking in midfield options next season. Daichi Kamada is likely to leave the club along with Glasner, and Will Hughes and Jefferson Lerma are not getting any younger.
There are likely to be many names linked to Palace over the summer, and the midfield is a part of the squad that will be needing replenishment. Kodai Sano is another player Palace have been linked to in this position, you can read about him here.
