- Crystal Palace make Jonathan David target
- Palace face competition from Aston Villa
- Juventus keen to sell
Crystal Palace have reportedly entered the race to sign Jonathan David from Juventus this Summer. The Canadian striker has had a mixed time in Turin and the Old Lady are looking to move him on.
Football Journalist Sébastien Vidal has claimed that both Crystal Palace and Aston Villa are closely monitoring David’s situation in Turin.
According to the report, discussions are set to take place this month for a loan move with an option to buy the Canadian striker.
A difficult season in Serie A has left David’s future uncertain, and it looks as if both Palace and Villa are keen to capitalise on Juventus’ willingness to part ways.

David a hot prospect
Despite only signing for the Turin side last Summer, David has had a difficult first season in Italy.
After five seasons in France with Lille, with the last four seeing incredible goal scoring returns, this campaign has been somewhat disappointing.
8 goals and 5 assists in 44 games is a depleted return when compared to David’s output in the seasons prior to his free transfer.
In his final three seasons in Northern France, David scored 26, 25 and 23 goals, registering 21 assists across those three years.
At 26-years-old, he is still worth a punt and both Palace and Villa will be hoping he can rediscover that form from Lille in the Premier League.
Juventus have had a difficult season as their years of dominance in the Italian top flight are well behind them.
Juventus are currently 4th in Serie A, and with three games left are in a great position to qualify for next season’s Champions League.
Striking a deal is a simple task
Whilst Juventus are keen to make a tidy penny on the Canadian striker, this wouldn’t necessarily demand a large fee at all.
The Old Lady attacked a superb market opportunity last Summer when they acquired David’s services on a free contract.
Both Dušan Vlahović and Loïs Openda are seemingly ahead of David in the pecking order, and the pair cost Juventus a combined fee of over £105 million.
David seems like the smart option for Juve to sell, and the profit margins are clear to see.
Whilst Juve are reportedly unsure about David’s future, there is certainly a deal to be done at the right price.
Reports indicate that they may be more keen on a loan move with an option to buy, in the case David can rediscover his form.
