Crystal Palace News as Pierre Sage keeps two members of Glasner staff
  • Pierre Sage keeping two Crystal Palace coaches
  • The French coach could be confirmed today
  • Why the pair are needed

Pierre Sage will have familiar faces in the dugout with him at Crystal Palace next season. The French coach is set to be confirmed as the Eagles’ new manager as early as today.

According to The Athletic, Sage has agreed to a three-year deal to succeed Oliver Glasner at Palace. He will be joined by three new members of staff.

Jamal Alioui, Damien Della Santa and Sandy Guichard will be following Sage to South London. But he is sticking with a duo who worked in Glasner’s coaching setup.

McCarthy and Quy staying

Sage’s backroom staff is said to still be being finalised. But Patrick McCarthy and Andy Quy are reportedly set to stay put and work alongside the incoming Palace boss.

McCarthy is a familiar face given he’s spent over 15 years with the Eagles as a player and a coach. He even filled in as caretaker manager during early 2024 and assisted Glasner and Roy Hodgson.

The former centre-back has worked closely in developing players, including coaching at youth level when Tyrick Mitchell was an academy prospect. His experience and knowledge of the club will be vital for Sage whose own team will need to quickly adapt to life at Selhurst Park.

Quy is also set to stay on as goalkeeping coach, a role he started back in September 2025. He held the same position as Huddersfield Town and has worked with the likes of Thomas Frank, Tony Pulis and Mark Hughes.

A good call

Keeping McCarthy and Quy could prove crucial when we look back in three years’ time. It’s exciting to have Sage on board, along with an assistant who helped him achieve a second-place finish with Lens and a Coupe de France triumph.

The Palace squad have a bond with the pair and they played their roles in Glasner’s historic reign. Keeping such individuals will only help both the players and the new manager.
