Crystal Palace fans will love Pierre Sage first tweet as manager
  • Pierre Sage sends first tweet as Crystal Palace boss
  • French coach appointed on Monday
  • He highlights the importance of fans

Crystal Palace supporters will quickly be following their new manager Pierre Sage on X. The French coach has succeeded Oliver Glasner and has already shared his first post.

Sage has been appointed on a three-year deal with the option of a further year. He is tasked with building on Glasner’s incredible success, which included delivering the UEFA Conference League last month.

Unlike Glasner, Sage regularly uses X and can be followed at @Pierre_Sage. His past posts include celebrating feats at former clubs Lens and Lyon in Ligue 1.

Sage sends Palace fans a message

Sage already gave his first interview to club media, speaking about his enthusiasm for the job and the opportunity to achieve more success with the Eagles. He is optimistic about having a “party” in the Europa League next season.

The Frenchman has also posted a picture on X of himself at Selhurst Park with the caption: “Here we are. South London and Proud.”

The comments section suggests fans are already taking to the 47-year-old, and building a special bond with the fanbase will be crucial. Glasner always highlighted the importance of supporters and how they helped his team enjoy the most successful period in the club’s history.

For now, Sage will be preparing for pre-season with Palace, which starts with participation in the Como Cup. He’ll likely meet the players who weren’t called up for the World Cup.

Sage vows to give fans ‘what they want’

Sage is well aware just how important football is in England and made that clear in his first interview. He said it was “really special” to be handed the reins at Selhurst Park in the “best league in the world.”

The new Eagles manager added: “We want to give our best every day for the team, for the club, for people and especially for the fans because when you love a club in England, it’s for all of your life. It’s your family sometimes, and you need to keep that. We want to give them what they want.”

Palace supporters are among the most passionate in the world and followed the club around Europe during last season’s Conference League campaign. Sage will have the backing of fans who have stuck with the South London outfit through highs and lows.
