Crystal Palace defender Maxence Lacroix has reportedly been identified by Chelsea as one of their main defensive targets for the summer window.
The 26-year-old has become a major figure at Selhurst Park since arriving from Wolfsburg in 2024, and his status has now placed him back into the centre of the Premier League transfer market.
FootballTransfers reports that Chelsea are considering Lacroix as part of a wider push for more experienced, ready-made players, with centre-back viewed as a priority area.
Palace have leverage over Lacroix decision
The key detail for Palace is contract strength. Lacroix is tied down until 2029, meaning the club are under no immediate pressure to accept an opportunistic bid.
That matters because Pierre Sage is preparing for a season that includes Europa League football, and losing a first-choice centre-back would create a significant recruitment problem unless a replacement was already lined up.
The report adds that Palace could be open to a sale at the right price if they can source cover, but that is a very different position from needing to sell.
For Chelsea, Lacroix fits the profile of a defender with Premier League experience and top-five-league pedigree. For Palace, the decision is simpler at this stage: either the offer changes the summer, or the answer should be no.
