Crystal Palace winger Yéremy Pino made his FIFA World Cup finals debut for Spain in their 4-0 win over Saudi Arabia in Atlanta on Sunday, entering at half-time as La Roja moved top of Group H.
The 23-year-old replaced Lamine Yamal at the interval with Spain already three goals ahead, giving Palace another active player involved on the biggest international stage this summer.
According to Crystal Palace’s World Cup player tracker, Pino helped force Hassan Altambakti’s own goal four minutes after coming on, adding another positive detail to a dominant Spain display.
Pino adds to Palace’s World Cup footprint
Pino had been an unused substitute in Spain’s opening 0-0 draw with Cape Verde, so this was his first taste of World Cup finals football since joining the Eagles’ tournament contingent.
The result took Spain to the top of Group H and secured qualification, with their final group fixture against Uruguay still to come in Zapopan. For Palace, it means another first-team player has now moved from the bench into meaningful World Cup minutes during a tournament already packed with Selhurst Park storylines.
Ismaïla Sarr, Chris Richards, Daichi Kamada and Daniel Muñoz have already produced major moments in North America, and Pino’s debut keeps Pierre Sage’s squad firmly visible before pre-season planning gathers pace.
