Chalobah Exit Talk Revives Palace Loan Question
Chalobah’s name still carries weight around Selhurst Park. Palace confirmed in January 2025 that Chelsea had activated a recall clause, ending a loan spell in which he made 14 appearances and scored three goals, including the opener in a 3-1 win over Brighton.
That short spell was productive enough to explain why Palace fans will watch this development closely. Chalobah gave Oliver Glasner athletic cover across the back line, grew quickly alongside Marc Guehi, and left just as he appeared to be finding rhythm.
talkSPORT reports that Chelsea are open to a sale as they reshape defensively under Xabi Alonso, with Chalobah currently away with England at the 2026 World Cup.
For Palace, the lesson is familiar: strong loan recruitment can solve immediate problems, but without a purchase route it can also leave value sitting elsewhere. Chalobah now looks set to become someone else’s long-term defensive answer.
