Liverpool Transfer Update on Adam Wharton a Boost For Crystal Palace Fans

Crystal Palace have been handed a timely Adam Wharton transfer boost after fresh reporting cast doubt on Liverpool entering the race for the midfielder this summer.

This Is Anfield, relaying comments from transfer journalist Ben Jacobs on talkSPORT, reports that it would now be a surprise if Liverpool made a move for Wharton, despite long-standing admiration and previous contact around a potential Selhurst Park switch.

The report adds that Wharton has been valued at upwards of £80 million, with the figure potentially rising as high as £100 million. For Palace, that stance matters. The 22-year-old remains one of the most valuable assets in Pierre Sage’s squad, and any cooling of Liverpool’s position strengthens the club’s hand before the market properly accelerates.

Wharton Valuation Gives Palace Control

Wharton joined Palace from Blackburn Rovers in February 2024 on a five-and-a-half-year contract, with the club’s official profile underlining both his rise and his 2026 UEFA Conference League final player-of-the-match honour.

That is why Palace can afford to hold firm. Read Crystal Palace has already tracked the wider Palace transfer picture, but Wharton’s situation sits in a different category. Unless a club reaches elite-money territory, the smarter play is obvious: keep Sage’s midfield cornerstone in south London.
